By midnight, Thursday, January 22, please post a comment that briefly explains what you (individually) accomplished during class on January 21. You should try to answer the following questions:

I made a list of all the movies that really impacted my group's time period and found a few clips to put into our slideshow. I also started looking at the trends between the movies as well as the actors playing significant roles within these movies.
ReplyDeleteToday, I set up our Power Point presentations. I started creating all the slides that we need. I also found some pretty cool Science Fiction Backgrounds to use.
ReplyDeleteToday I researched the books that won Nebula and Hugo awards, and found out that Forever Peace won both awards in 1998. I worked with Jeremy to put the "books" part of the slide show together.
ReplyDeleteI researched movies and books from my time period. I also started on a photostory. Some useful information I found was some famous science fiction movies that won Hugo awards. I learned that there have been a lot of movies and books and short stories that have come out every year. It will help my group because we have more information on movies now.

I also helped pick out the gound that will be used on the slide show. i bound out the battle starglatica and stargart and star trek were the three big tv. shows during our time period and that there have been several big movies like iron man, stargate
ReplyDeleteI have researched many authors and books.I also researched some of the TV shows in the time period. I found lots of stuff, like things that went on during the time period. I learned that some of the stuff considered science fiction in my period i actually watched and liked. We will be able to come up with a good photo story with all the information.
ReplyDeleteI researched popular movies and books. I looked up to see which books, movies and authors were prominent at the time and which ones we still know of today. I tried to find ones that were popular that are well known today because it will be more interesting in our presentation if the rest of the class knows what stories we talk about. I looked into awards that were won and what the awards are for. We compiled a list of important books, movies, authors, events, etc. so the rest of the group can use it to start creating the photostory. I learned that aliens and outer space seemed to be pretty popular topics from 1975-1985.
ReplyDeleteI researched books and authors such as the Bicentennial Man and I, Robot. This helped create a research paper that I then gave to the other members of my group so they could look up more technological research on them. Bridget and I found some useful information on the types of awards the books recieved. I learned that Hugo Gernback, who the Hugo award is named after, printed a science fiction magazine during my decade called Amazing Stories. By finishing the research today this will help the groups presentation with more details about books from '75 to '85.
ReplyDeleteToday I researched the best books and movies from 1990-Present and made a list in Word of them. This will initially help in creating the power point so there will not have to be a ton of searching done.
ReplyDeleteToday, I found some great music for my groups photostory, the band Telefon Tel Aviv. I also looked up Nebula winners for the years we are assigned and I looked up what Marvel comics were made from 1985-1995. I think that next class we will begin to formulate photos and information together as one and begin to work on the actual finished product.
ReplyDeleteI looked up several different influential authors from the mid eighties to the mid nineties. i found a surprising number of them were people i had heard of (which is surprising because i would hardly consider myself to be a devout follower of science fiction literature.) such authors as Kurt Vonnegut, Orson Scott Card, and the like all inhabited the list. i will be contributing the literary portion of our project.
ReplyDeleteI mostly researched novels from the 1970's and i created a list of the ones that i thought were relevant. I found a lot of neat information about all of that. The most interesting thing that i learned was how what was going on in the 70's shaped how scifi at the time was structured. I did research to help my group.

I researched the different movies of our time period. i started just writing stuff down in a word document and found the The Lord Of the Rings won alot of awards throughout all the diff series, it will help to show us what was amoung the most popular in this time.

I learned many things that happened in my time period that would have thought would have happened much later. It will help my groups presentation because I found useful information that will help our update to the original SF Slide Show

ReplyDeleteI finished finding films for 1995, 2000, and 2005. I also started a powerpoint on Google so the rest of the group can work on the powerpoint all at the same time instead of us working on our own seperate little side and then end up piecing it together on monday.
