The Post-Mortem People

We read the story "The Post-Mortem" people in class on February 2 and 4. On the last day everyone answered at least one question about the story. If you missed the class, or if you have other comments to add, here's the place to add your comments. The questions we asked in class were:

        • Do you think the author made an accurate extrapolation? Explain why or why not.

        • Can you cite any news stories that you can relate to "The Post-Mortem People"?

        • What is the authur warning us about?

        1. Yes I do think the author made an accurate extrapolation. He is saying that in the future people are going to wait for people to die so that they can harvest the bodies organs and sell them to people. We have the technology to do many different transplants. I do think that the part at the beginning where he is going to use the brain and transplant the brain is a bit far fetched, but for the most part The Post-Mortem People is a good Extrapolation story.

        2. I think that the extrapolation the author made could become true because people keep coming up with new ways to do transplants and eventually there will be a procedure for every organ. The author is showing us that organs will become more valuable in the future and people will start to sell them to make money.
